As you begin to think about purchasing equipment for your player for the upcoming season, below are some frequently-asked questions that I get each year.
#1 Most-asked question...What size bat should I get? This one is tricky. I'm a huge believer that having the right bat can make all the difference in a kid's ability to hit the ball consistently. Too light = swings early and misses/foul. Too heavy = swings late and misses/foul. [A heavy bat is NOT always a good thing - hitting the ball hard and far is about bat swing speed to the ball.]
The chart below is based on my 15 years of experience with youth baseball. [Print this chart and take it with you to Academy]
The first # is the length. The second # is the weight. For example, a 28/18 is 28" and 18oz.
The difference of length minus weight is the "DROP" value (-10 in this example).

BBCOR / High School / Drop 3 bats ARE NOT ALLOWED - please pay attention when buying.
What kind of helmet should I get? One that fits your player snugly - any color. NOTE: you must purchase a face guard for TB/CP/SB, or a C-Flap for KP. These would be purchased separately and installed onto the helmet.
What size fielding glove should I get? One that fits your player's hand without falling off. They should be able to insert their hand, and squeeze the glove open and closed without too much difficulty. Typical sizes by age groups:
Do I have to buy a backpack or equipment bag? The league does not require players to have a bag, but it is encouraged so that your player can keep all of their baseball gear in one place together. The backpack style is preferred by most players.
What kind of shoes does my player need? Turf shoes or regular Tenny shoes are recommended for the infield, but can be used for infield and outfield. Rubber cleats of any color are acceptable on both turf and grass. No metal cleats.
What does my player get from the league for a uniform?
Hope this helps!

What does my player get from the league for a uniform?
- For Fall and Spring, the league will supply Jersey/Pants/Socks/Cap for TBall, and Jersey/Socks/Cap for CP, SB, and KP. In the older divisions, coaches/parents can decide what color and style pants they want to match with their custom-printed jersey and cap.
- For Summer, the league will supply a Dri-Fit Jersey and cap. Coaches/parents can decide what color and style pants they want to purchase.
Hope this helps!
