T-Ball

T-Ball

$215  (Early Bird Registration $195)
  • Ages 3-6*
  • Practices 1-2 time per week decided by team parents
  • 8 Games Saturday late afternoons or Thursday evenings @ Shadow Creek Sports Complex
  • Parents work together to Coach all players
  • 1 parent needed to be Team Coordinator
*as of September 1

Goals of our 5-6yo T-Ball division:
  • T-Ball is more that just hitting off the tee.
  • Players should learn rules of the game.
  • Offensive - multiple base running; listening to the coach; knowing when to run & when  not to run; learning how to hit the ball harder and farther with the right body mechanics.
  • Defensive - improved mechanics of: fielding the ball on the ground; catching the ball in the air; throwing accurately to a base; catching a thrown ball from another player; when to throw the ball, when to hold the ball; rules around getting the lead runner out.
  • The player should be proficient with the above and had enough practice opportunities in games to display these attributes before moving up to Coach Pitch.

Game Format / Rules: (Changes effective Fall 2026)
  • 7-9 players per team
  • Ball is hit off a tee, no pitching
  • Ball must travel to the green turf or it is a foul
  • No walks or strikeouts
  • No fielder may cross the playing line (pitcher's mound rubber) until the ball is hit
  • No umpires are used for TBall games - please be reasonable and fair in calls made and strive for alignment with both team's coaches; if it's close, it's an Out
  • Regular TBall: Ages 5-6
    • Little League - like Rules and Positions;  3 outs or 5-run maximum score = end of half inning
    • Game time is 60 minutes
    • Maximum of 4 non-player personnel per team inside the fenced area (gate, dugout and field) at any time. This includes coaches, adults, siblings, and friends.  Parents who are not one of the four designated game personnel should remain outside the fenced playing area.
--> Coach Positions While On Defense: 2 adult coaches are allowed in the outfield grassy area only. All others must remain in the dugout or stand on the concrete pad outside the dugout.
--> Coach Positions While On Offense: First and third base coaches are allowed in the coach's boxes, along with one batting-team coach to collect the bat after a player hits. All others must remain in the dugout or stand on the concrete pad outside the dugout.

    • Multiple-base running (at risk)
      • When a batter hits the ball and it goes far, base runners can run as many bases as reasonably possible* (at the risk of getting out) just like real baseball; they do NOT have to stop at one base (like they do in our 3/4yo division)
      • *Given many of our players are new to the game, please be reasonable when base running and don't take unfair advantage just to score; remember there's a 5-run max rule per inning and we want kids to be able to bat multiple times during a game, but we also want to reward kids who do hit it far to be able to run multiple bases
    • Runner(s) may advance at risk 1 base on an overthrow
      • In the case of an overthrow, players can advance only 1 base.  (Example. Short stop over throws to First: Batter can advance to 2nd base, 2nd base runner to 3rd, and 3rd base runner to home.)  Once that advancement is complete, time should be called and the ball returned to the tee. There will be no additional advancement on subsequent overthrows during that play.
      • Coaches should teach their fielders not to throw the ball around multiple times, risking overthrows.  Teach fielders to attempt an out at a base, but then get the ball back to the pitcher or adult coach at the T.
    • Teams are allowed to have a catcher but they must wear their batting helmet and be positioned behind the plate/batter; Otherwise, Infield covers Home.
  • Intro TBall: Ages 3-4
    • Game time is 45 minutes
    • Every player bats and fields
    • Unlimited outs per half inning
    • No scorekeeping
    • Bat around – each player bats every half inning; 1 base per hit
    • Runners can only advance 1 base, no stealing, no advancement on overthrow
    • Last batter is “grand slam” hitter and can advance all the way around to home plate
    • Half inning is over when all players have batted once

Practice Guideline:
  • Collect info on other sports involved, and set practice around
  • 1 practice per week, 90 minutes max
